Trip Overview

Mera Peak can be described as a high altitude spectacular climbing peak within the Solukhumbu region of Nepal. The 15-day Mera Peak Climbing trek, though challenging, is an adventure climb. It is suitable for novice and experienced climbers.

Solukhumbu has the highest five mountains in the world, the climb up Mera Peak is strenuous but not technically difficult. The climb up to the mountain is simple and the slopes are not more than 30 deg. Stay overnight in teahouses, constructed on the side of solitary "Kharkas" or grazing areas of yak herders. The climbing up Mera Peak isn't difficult. Prior to the summit push the summit push, there will be an initial climb training in which the most basic alpine climbing strategies will be discussed.

Detail Itinerary

You will be taking flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Lukla is a regional airport in Solukhumbhu district. Its sort a gateway to the world’s highest peak Mt. Everest and many other peaks. Lukla Airport is one of the most dangerous airport around the globe and only experienced pilots are given permit to fly there because there is a steep cliff at the end of the airport and the pilots having to fly between many hills to reach airport which adds to the difficulty level. You will be staying overnight in a lodge in Lukla

After having breakfast in Lukla, you will then leave for Chutanga which is approximately 4 hours far. On the way, you can expect to see Tibetan scripted stones as majority of people living there are Tibetan. Mountain views can be also seen on the journey.

You have to be prepared for today because you will be trekking about 6-8 hours today and reach approximately 4600m above sea level altitude which shall be difficult for beginner trekkers. You will cross Zatrwa La and then go to Khartitang where you will be spending your night in a lodge.

After having breakfast in a lodge, you will then leave for Kothe which will be approximately 5 hour trek. The trekking time is very short and the elevation also won’t arise too high. You will pass through forest of Rhododendron (laliguras), Pines and Oaks Kothe will be your final destination for the day and you will continue your journey tomorrow.

You will leave for Tangnang after breakfast. The trek is expected to be short lasting only about 4 hours. On the way, you can expect to see monasteries which are built centuries ago. You can enjoy beautiful scenery all along the way and there is a rock art that shows picture of Mera peak which is very interesting. You will stay in a lodge for the night.

After 3-4 days of non-stop trek, you will get a day off to re-energize your body. You will be resting at Tangnang for a day and continuing your journey the day after.

After a day rest, you will leading to Khare which will be a very short trek which will only last about 3 hours. But don’t be too happy because you have to climb some steep climbs to reach Khare which can be difficult especially after raise in altitude. You should carry warm cloths through the journey as you will be trekking in high altitudes. You will spend your night in a lodge or a tea house.

You will leave for Mera Base Camp after having breakfast at Khare. This will be approximately 5 hours trek reaching an altitude of 5300m above sea level at the end of the day. You have to climb some steep way of glacier. Glacier is very slippery and hence it is more difficult than normal ones. You must be very careful throughout the trek.

You will be leaving Mera Base Camp after breakfast. You will reach High Camp at the end of the day. The trekking time is expected to be around 5 hours. You are in Himalayan region so you should be always ready for steep climbs, rocky and snowy terrains. You must be ready for anything that nature throws at you because in night the temperature might drop down drastically.

You must leave soon after your breakfast because it will be longest trekking day of your journey as you will go to Mera Summit and then also descend down to Khare. The time expected is around 12-15 hours. You have to be prepared with all our mountaineering kit. The weather at Mera Summit get changed in noon so we must descend from there before noon. Mera Summit climbing is somewhat easy because there is no or small climbs. From Summit you can see exotic mountain scenery. After descending from Summit you will go to Khare for a night stay.

After Mera Summit climbing you will descend back to Kothe. For the most part of your journey you will descend hills. It is a 5 hour trek. By the end of the day you will reach a little warmer place than your previous days.

You will be leaving for Thuli Kharka after having breakfast in a lodge or a tea house. The expected trekking time is 6 hours. Thuli Kharka will be your final destination for the day where you will be staying at a lodge.

On last days of your trek, you will be descending to Lukla where you had begun your journey. There you will be staying for a night in a lodge.

You will take flight from Lukla Regional Airport to Kathmandu to end your trekking. You will be reaching a moderate climb zone of Nepal after spending days in cold climate. Our staff will drop you to your hotel.
