Island Peak (Imja Tse) 6189m, is an intriguing and difficult climb in the Khumbu Himalaya. It is easily accessible to anyone who would like to experience the most authentic high altitude climbing experience on ice and snow. Prior climbing experience is beneficial as our experienced Sherpa climbing guides will teach and practice specific skills like abseiling, jumor and most importantly crossing the ladders section of Island Peak. If you are knowledgeable and experience with climbing on ice and rock and have done some high altitude treks, it's a huge advantage to the Island Peak Expedition.
Island Peak Climbing is a combination of the most popular trek to Everest Base Camp and climb of a spectacular 6000m peak. Island Peak Base Camp is easy to reach via Chhukung village, located from to the Everest Base Camp trail. The climb starts in the Chhukung valley, and requires just two nights and three days to complete the climb. Island Peak Climbing starts at Lukla and continues along an Everest Base Camp Trekking Trail through into the Dudh Kosi valley through Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Gorak Shep, Everest Base Camp and Kala Pattar. This trek journey up to Everest Base Camp has already been an amazing experience. There are gorgeous forest of pine and rhododendrons monasteries, breathtaking hiking trails, perspectives that are of the Khumbu Himalaya such as Everest, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Pumori and of course the soul and heart that is Sherpa people, their traditions, work, and hospitality. We are now more prepared for the cold winter weather and the altitude of Island Peak.
The hike is a time of exploration around the base camp to get acclimated and to learn the climbing techniques required to climb Island Peak. There are boulders and slabs that we can climb in order to reach Island Peak High Camp 5500m, where we'll stay the night in camp before heading towards the summit to the summit of Island Peak.
After high camp, there is more scree and rocks at first. A couple of spots, we must walk on the Ladders to traverse over the Crevasses section. Then, after the Crevasses section, we walk on smooth glacier sections before we reach the bottom that forms the Ice headwall. At the top, you can enjoy the breathtaking views of Himalaya encompasses Nuptse which is 7879m high, Lhotse 8501m Lhotse Middle Peak, 819m and the not-climbed Lhotse Shar at 8383m. To the east is the amazing Makalu Pyramid 8575m as well as the frozen waves from the Lhotse Shar Glacier, and to the south, Baruntse and alluring Ama Dablam.

You will leave from Tribhuvan International Airport for Lukla Regional Airport which is located in Solukhumbu district. It is a gateway to Mt. Everest. The airport is built on a hill so it has a steep downfall at the end of the Airport. After reaching Lukla Airport, you will then trek to Phakding which is approximately 3-4 hours far. It is a small village in Khumbu. Majority of people living there follow Buddhist religion.

After having breakfast in a lodge or a tea house, you will then leave for Namche Bazaar. The estimated time to reach there is about 6-7 hours. Namche Bazaar is one of the most popular cities of Nepal where the city is built on slope of hills. You will staying in a lodge or a tea house for a night.

You will having a day off at Namche Bazaar which is 3440m above sea level. You will go around the village, communicate with people and know about their tradition. You can also go to top of the village for breathtaking view of the village.

After a day break in Namche Bazaar you will be trekking to Tengboche which will be around 5-6 hours trek. It is a village in Khumbu. It has many monastery among them Tengboche Monastery is the biggest in the region which was built around a century ago. You will be staying there for a night in a lodge or a tea house which are mostly runned by local people.

You will be leaving for Dingboche for the day. The expected time to reach there is approximately 5-6 hours. Majority of people residing there are Sherpas. It is one of the most popular stop for trekkers trekking around this area. The main source of income people living in these are is tourism. You will be staying there for a night.

After reaching Dingboche, you will explore the village for a day. In village, you can see traditional wear, culture and tradition of the people who are living there. You will be staying there for a night and continuing journey the day after.

After having breakfast in a lodge or in a tea house, you will the leave for Lobuche which is approximately 4-5 hours far. Lobuche is a small village in Khumbu region. Majority of people living here are Buddhist so you can expect to see some monastery along your journey. You will be staying in a lodge or a tea house or a night.

You will leave immediately after breakfast because it will a long day. You will be trekking for about 9-10 hours. You will go to Gorakshep and a day hike in Everest Base Camp and return to Gorakshep for the night stay. The weather is expected to be cold regardless of which season you are travelling in.

As the previous day, this day will be also long. The trek will last about 8-9 hours where you will hike to Kalapatther and then Trek back to Dingboche. Kalapatther means black rock in nepali language. It is very popular among trekkers as it provides near view of Mount Everest. For the night you will be staying in Dingboche in a lodge or a tea house.

After breakfast in Dingboche, you will leave for Chhukhung which is approximately 3-4 hr far. Chhukhung is a small village in Khumbhu region of Nepal. You can see desert like landscape and view of mountains throughout your journey. Major source of income of people living there is tourism as they provide food and shelter for trekkers coming from around the world.

You will leave for Island Peak Base Camp after having breakfast. The trekking time is approximately 3-4 hours. It is a peak in Sagarmatha NP which is also known as Imja Tse. The name was then changed because it appeared like an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche. You will spending a night there is a tent or in a lodge.

This will be the longest day of your trek as you will be trekking for almost 9-10 hours so you have to leave as soon as you have breakfast as the weather in Himalayan regions are unpredictable. It will be a day trek to Summit Island Peak which is also known as Imja Tse. It stands at an altitude of 6189m above the sea level. In this trek you will face difficulties such as steep climbs and slippery path. After reaching top, you will descend back to Chhukhung where you will be spending a night.

After breakfast, you will leave for Tengboche on your journey back. The estimated trekking time is 5-6 hours and you will be spending a night in Tengboche where you can see old monasteries.
