Manaslu Conservation Area
Among the six conservation area, Manaslu Conservation area is one of the protected areas
established in 1998 A.D. in Nepal. It covers a total of 1663 sq.Km part of Nepal. The
elevation of this area starts from 1400m to 8156m above sea level. It is located at Gorkha
district. Manaslu Conservation Area preserves diverse natural resources and is rich in the
cultural environment. The main attraction of this place is Mt. Manaslu (8156m), 8th highest
mountain in the World. It is also known as the mountain of the spirit. This area preserves a
large variety of flora and fauna. It has about 2000 species of plants, about 39 species of
mammals, about 200 species of birds, about three species of reptiles and about 11 species
of butterflies. Some of the animals preserved here are snow leopard, lynx, musk deer, red
fox, jackal, brown bear, blue sheep, Himalayan tahr, Himalayan serow, woolly hare,
Himalayan marmot, etc. And some beautiful birds that can be spotted here are snow
partridge, Tibetan snowcock, chukor partridge, Himalayan griffon, golden eagle.
The trails
are covered with forests, hills, rivers, waterfalls, and the mountain ranges surround the trails
magnificently. Manaslu Conservation area is divided into three parts low hill, Middle
Mountain and High Mountain. As diverse in natural resources, it is distinct in cultures and
traditions too. People of different ethnicity reside here. They are the origin of Tibet and
follow ancient Tibetan Buddhists tradition. They still follow their old customs and traditions.
They have different languages, costumes, ornaments, etc. according to their ethnic group.
The local people are very kind-hearted and welcome you with all the gratitude. Monasteries,
chhorten, mani walls and prayer flags surrounding the trails show how the cultures and
religious values are preserved and respected there. The area is located in an isolated part
